The Pelvic Floor concepts course provides an easy introduction into the many roles of the pelvis and its related structures. The diverse functions are used as a learning opportunity to start problem solving multi-systemic dysfunction. Relevant aspects are revisited from different angles to enhance understanding. This course is pitched as an initial foray into the pelvis and is an absolute must for anyone wanting to do pelvic work, as it introduces the concept of the ‘whole’ rather than focusing on individual symptoms and patient presentations. (A good refresher for those already working in the pelvis, as it sets the ground work for the many different patient populations that are encountered clinically). It also includes the basics of assessment and treatment of one of the most commonly found pelvic symptoms female urinary incontinence. Everyone has to start somewhere, and the female urinary system offers easy options to begin working with both the biomechanical and behavioural aspects of bodily function and control.

There are probably close to 500 000 golfers in South Africa. By far the majority of these are casual or recreational golfers, poorly conditioned, unfit and unskilled and who present with a variety of challenges to the medical and fitness professionals. Many of the professionals treating these players are not as well versed in the mechanics of the body in golf as they could be. It is the purpose of this course to train those professionals so that they are able to positively influence the quality of the golf and longevity of the golfer.
