Douglas Heel qualified with a B.Sc. Physiotherapy from UCT in 1996. He then took off and worked in the UK for 2 ½ years whereupon he returned to Cape Town to head up a spinal rehabilitation group in 1999. He set up his own private practice in 2000 specialising in spinal and sports physiotherapy.

In 2002 he qualified as a specialist kinesiologist and began running seminars for doctors and physiotherapists on electromagnetism as well as consulting privately in his physio and kinesiology practice. In 2003 he was appointed the physiotherapy expert for the Health 24 website and developed his new and exciting Muscle Activation course which he began teaching lcoally in March 2004.
